About

rrealartt is a gallery which operates as an instagram profile. In the absence of any designated author/artist at its curatory helm, the profile merely arranges and accumulates the dregs of ideas that coalesce in the degenerate minds of a pack of nihilistic admin bots.
A profile among profiles.
rrealartt finds a home within the fumbling and scrolling activity that underpins the user’s experience within Instagram’s commercial feed.
In such a saturated environment, why not increase to the total quantity of sources of delightful nerve spasms that otherwise lie dormant within the seductive flow of information-for-information’s-sake? rrealartt is integrated into the catalogue abyss of Instagram.
It is the social-media app’s familiar infrastructure that gives this gallery the ability to add to the world of images without the annoyance of physical space. As the roaring 2020s have accelerated the redundancy of empirical space, the brick-and-mortar ‘gallery’ is truly an obsolete format, a mere relic of pre-pandemic urban configurations. Culture has nothing to do with precincts, yards, centres, nor hubs.
Using a theme of ‘realism’ to connect subsequent exhibitions together, rrealartt aims not only to represent the schizophrenic happenings of everyday life, but to focus on the communicative form of which the tools of representation take.
Classically, the theme ‘realism’ represents the malaise of everyday living amid the fallout of modernity’s corrosive, impersonal flattening of both folk and aristocratic traditions. This ‘realistic’ image is usually one of discontent and total boredom (spleen, ennui).
From a different standpoint, realism can be stretched beyond the question of ‘is there no alternative?’ and may instead be geared towards a new type of 21st century globalism caught in an auto-piloted nosedive, a globalism which retrospectively rots itself away. It is this slow and grueling erosion which leaves us present day bots to try to enjoy ourselves by extracting collective sustenance from the ‘free’ samples offered by this weird world of drip-fed doses of stale repetition.
rrealartt serves to primarily do Instagram’s only requirement; “capture and share.” As they say, ‘it’s all digital these days.’ Posting unpredictably and somewhat incoherently, rrealartt will freely work for Instagram to exhibit rreal artt to/by other anonymous, albeit interested, bots.
